COUCHBOY

Melodic guitar-driven alternative indie rock.

sitepic1.jpg

From Western Massachusetts, an energetic

blend of 90’s grunge, 60's pop, jangly, punk, and lo-fi inspirations all tied up into original, guitar driven, pop songs.

In 2023, COUCHBOY joined the artist roster of SUBJANGLE records and released the 10 song debut CD "Singles and What Nots".  The second full length record "Summer" followed in 2024, also on SUBJANGLE.  CD's sold out, music went to radio, streams went up, videos were made, shows were booked, and all was good! Over the last couple years, COUCHBOY has been included on the HOLY CRAP RECORDS compilations "Big Money" (2023) and "Ramonesesque" (2022), the START TRACK RECORDS compilations "Start the Track Vol.3" (2023), "Vol.4" (2023), and "Vol.7 (2025), the ICE CREAM MAN POWER POP records compilation "A Sprinkle Of Summer Fun" (2023) , the DAMMIT RECORDS' "Dam-Nations" compilation(2025) and contributed an original Xmas song to "Indie Dog Days of Xmas" on AMS records (2025).

With founding member, and songwriter, David MacDonald on guitar/vocals, J Mauro on drums, Roman Sanchez on Bass, and Nick Clark on guitar, the band is playing shows throughout the Northeast, currently finishing up a new record for Spring 2026  and having various other goodly things in the works.

Couchboy

"Fresh and somewhat bittersweet ...with a particular energy. As if Nirvana and Green Day came together. Couchboy sounds blunt and direct, with a garage edge and a captivating familiarity."--RockFuguino.com

It’s Rock…It’s Pop…It’s Couchboy!

by Michael Stover - Crash Bang Wallop Zine

...having performed regionally with a host of bands.., David returned to the studio in 2021 ... The results reflect his early influences, including the Kinks, The Who, The Beatles and other pop rock acts of the 1960s. Nowhere are his influences more prevalent than on ... “Tell Me What I Feel.”

The compositional approach  of this artist intrigued me from the very first chords. Powerful and free...The guitars are epic...nostalgic...

Songs We Love

.. a very nice 90s feeling, think of tame version of Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and guided by voices…super melodic, I would love to hear tracks like this one on the radio again!
